Last Thursday I traveled to Mayo for my three month check in and was hopeful to get back on immunotherapy.
My appointments began at 7:00 AM, which everyone knows I was super excited about! My labs and CT scan were uneventful. I then was off to get my flu shot. While I was there, I pleaded my case about my COVID booster. They listened and the manager of the unit agreed I could it. Yay!!!
Then off to meet with my doctor. My last treatment was at the end of May so I was nervous about what the scans would show. I already knew my blood work was good because I know how to read my labs. I first met with the fellow and he gave the following report:
- Lungs: Stable, no new growth
- Heart: Stable, no new growth
- Abdomen: Slight shrinkage
Yeppers, shrinkage. This is extremely rare, actually never seen. My doctor came in and was sharing his excitement about the scans. He feels that I may be having a delayed reaction to the immunotherapy. He feels that the doses I received are still working on my body. He also thinks that I am still healing from my summer ordeal so he wants me to keep getting my strength up. He says no to therapy until January when we will re-assess. He says this will give me a treatment free holiday. I am noticing the impact of the adrenal gland insufficiency so I am getting used to what to expect. Who knew the adrenal glands were responsible for so many things in the body. I do now! I think he is right about my healing and I respect his decision.
Today, when I went to do my IV hydration therapy, my port stopped working. I am hoping it just needs a break so we are going to give it a week off and try again on Friday. It got a lot of use last week and was a little bruised so hopefully a break will fix the issue.
In other news, with my health in the current condition as well as my uncle's, I will be moving. This will help my family who is helping me. More news to come as I figure it out.
Speaking of my uncle, I often do not post about his health issues but after a long battle, it appears that his fight is coming to an end. We will be transitioning him into Hospice care this week. We know this is the best decision to help transition. We have worked with Hospice when we said goodbye to my grandpa, dad, and grandma. They are wonderful angels on Earth! Please send thoughts to whomever you send them to that his transition is as peaceful as possible.
On a positive note, my cats are as cuddly as ever. It is a good thing I am bendy!
For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO

Sorry to learn of the turn of events regarding your uncle and his move to hospice. We kn ow this is a difficult you you and your family and will keep him in our prayers.
