Well, it is nights like tonight that inspired my blog. I taught class tonight and left at approximately 9 PM. I called my uncle on the way home. It used to be that I had a good hour to catch up with family and friends each night on my way home. I now have approximately 10-15 minutes to talk, which I love. But tonight was a little different . . . .
So I am catching up with my uncle when I round the road and in front of the fence in my yard is a car parked on the side of the road. My house sits on the edge of 39 acres so this car was approximately 1/4 mile or less from my gate. For those who have seen the house, it was in front of the pasture next to the house. Far enough away that it wasn't directly in front of my house, but close enough to get me - I watch a lot of horror movies so I am always on alert! My uncle asked what I was going to do - I said keep driving until it goes away. I drove past my house, turned around and came back - car was still there. I drove towards town and then turned around and came back - still there. I turned around and headed towards the house - still there. At this point, my uncle said to call the Sheriff's office to come out. He looked up the number and called so I could stay on the phone with him.
The dispatcher told me to wait at a local store for the Deputy. About 20 minutes later, Deputy Jones pulled up and explained that the person was here interviewing and deciding whether to move here. He was waiting for a phone call and that was a place he could get reception - I completely understand since the cell towers seem to be lacking out here. He explained the person did not have a criminal past. The Deputy also reassured me that it was his pleasure to help me and I did the right thing calling. So, a great big shout out to my Uncle John, who is always thinking on his feet and also Deputy Jones who made me feel that I truly had done the right thing. I know I have some friends who will say this situation should make me think about protecting myself.
Another adventure that ended great!
For tonight . . . I'm just sayin'
XOXO
