Updates

First and foremost, I finally got a banana split:

It was quite odd what toppings she put on which ice cream but it was delicious. Instead of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream, I got coffee, butter pecan, and black cherry. Then she put the pineapple on the coffee, the chocolate sauce on the black cherry, and the strawberry on the butter pecan. I would have put the chocolate on the coffee, pineapple on the butter pecan, and the strawberry on the black cherry. That being said, I ate half of it for dinner and then worked on it for a few days later.

In other news, it took five days to get the results of my blood work. It was sent to the doctor 15 minutes before my appointment. It wasn't good. The lab results confirmed I have irreversible adrenal gland insufficiency. Basically, my brain has stopped communicating with my adrenal glands so they no longer produce cortisol. Cortisol helps control the body’s metabolism; suppresses inflammation; regulates blood pressure; increases blood sugar; and controls the sleep/wake cycle. It is also released during times of stress to help your body get an energy boost and better handle an emergency situation. With the lack of communication, my brain does not tell me I am hungry or thirsty. I will need to be on steroids for the rest of my life, which will simulate cortisol production. I will also need to wear a medical alert bracelet. Additionally, I will need to watch for symptoms very closely to see if I am going into a crisis so I can mitigate the situation before I am in serious trouble. Basically, this is what was happening when I was feeling so sick and continuing to get worse. Since the damage is irreversible, I can go back on immunotherapy once my doctor is ready. Right now, he has said he is not eager. I am so we will be chatting.

In a week full of things not going my way, I have decided 2021 is the year of patience. On Thursday, I got the following shirt in the mail from my mom for Halloween:

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Meanwhile, I have a lap full of cats:

For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO
