I very rarely do an InstaCart order during the day because I like to watch my shopper so I can chat about substitutions and ensure I do not miss any questions but I cannot do that while I work. However, last night I put my order together too late to get it delivered. So at 8:00 AM, I figured I could put in my order. It wasn't very big and given the tasks I was working on, I thought I could manage it. Well, I was wrong.
I got engaged in work (I know that no one is surprised by this) and then it was time for my team call. My weekly team call is one of my highlights of the week because I get to see and talk to my team. I also pose a question to them each week so it has been fun getting to know them. Today, we were sharing our favorite masks. I have been blessed to have been gifted several great masks and purchased some very fun mask, some of which you have seen in my blog posts. Here is the mask I shared today, it was a gift from a dear friend and has a matching bag that will be going to chemo with me next week:
At 10:48 AM, I suddenly realized that I had forgot there was an InstaCart order happening, let alone it had been delivered. I checked the app quickly. I found that I missed a few questions about substitutions but my shopper did a great job. I also discovered my order had been delivered at 9:55 AM. Normally, this would not be an issue that it was on my porch for an hour but after Baskin' Robbins failed me with my milkshake, I had ordered coffee ice cream.
I turned off my video, grabbed the bag, and put the ice cream in the freezer. Then I returned to my call.
I continue to be thankful that my worst chemo effects so far is fatigue. I am super tired, which is hard for me because I am used to going 16-20 hours a day but I know this is temporary. I do think my ability to multitask is definitely compromised, which is not a bad thing. I also do not my cognitive time on tasks that I do not consider important. Today was a good example of that! I had completely forgot about my order. In fairness, while I do tell the InstaCart shopper to leave my food so I do not have to interact with them but typically my InstaCart shoppers ring the door bell or knock on the door to let me know they are leaving the food at my door.
Fortunately, the ice cream was packed in with other cold items so I believe all is well.
I know going through this makes people sad so I hope that this funny story put a smile on your face and made you laugh out loud. I know I am laughing about this.
For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO
