Big Day

So this week I am home alone. It is interesting because I have gotten used to having someone here. But I am doing well. Today, I had a busy day.

I have not driven since June and my key batteries had been giving me a low battery warning. The sales manager at the dealership made changing the battery look so easy. Well, first you have to get the key to come apart...that was a chore. Then I put the first battery in. It didn't work. I opened it again, flipped the battery. It didn't work. Then I opened it again, flipped it and realized there was a sticker on it. I finally got it.  I was headed out the door.

Since it was election day, I did my civic duty and went to the polls to vote. Overall, it went well. When I got there, a person was walking in so I waited in my car for a minute. Then I walked up, went through the process, and was done in less then five minutes. I love my pollsters, they are all so nice and everyone was gloved and masked up. They were wiping things down everywhere. They even opened the door for me coming and going. I hand sanitized up and was on my way.

Since I was out, I decided to stop by the drive through at bank to deposit a check. How did my purse not have a pen in it? Especially, my purse...I own every office supply and type of pen in the world. The teller gave me a pen, which she said she personally had cleaned.

I decided on my way home I would stop and get a milkshake. I know you are thinking 8AM milkshake but really they are like smoothies and I wanted a coffee flavor one so that is breakfasty. So I stopped at the Baskin' Robbins/Dunkin' store, who kindly told me they had no ice cream and could not make me a coffee milkshake. Really?!?

Then home to work all day. During my lunch hour, I spent it on the phone with my Internet provider because my download/upload speed is so low. They agreed and are sending someone out tomorrow night.

After work, I ordered gifts for four upcoming events. While I have always shopped online, there are certain things that are more fun to shop for in person but it is fine. I do really miss picking out cards for people. I love giving and getting cards. Speaking of getting cards, some wonderful colleagues of mine had some children in a child care program make me get well cards and delivered them:

I also changed a light bulb, cooked lunch and dinner, wash dishes, and empty litter boxes.

What a day!!!!! It makes me sad that after doing all of this, I typically would have five more hours of energy left for the day to get things done but this is my new normal. I am about to call it a day and curl up with the cats in the recliner.

For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO

  1. Sounds like it was a good day with all the activities and accomplishments! Getting out to vote is a good thing! Hard to believe that Baskin' Robins had no ice cream! Love the cards and that the kids were reaching out to you and wishing you well. (Kids are great!) Curling up with the cats makes for a restful end to a busy day! Be safe and we'll be checking in while on the road. xoxo
