This past weekend the Earth lost a treasure when Bob McGrath passed away. He was in the original cast of Sesame Street and was on the show for 47 years. Sesame Street stills brings a smile to my face. I grew up on this show. I always remember how kind and caring he was on the show.
In 2011, I had the honor of meeting him. He was speaking at a conference I was attending. I had a long conversation with him about the importance of music education. It was so exciting to meet him. I have treasured that conversation.
I know that he has been reunited with Mr. Hooper, Caroll Spinney (Big Bird/Oscar), Jerry Nelson (Count), Matt Robinson (original Gordon) , and of course, Jim Henson. I am sure there is a lot of singing this week as they catch up.
For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO
What a great memory you have! e all have fond memories of Sesame Street and the wonderful characters in the show. Marianne has feather from Big Bird (Big Bright Yellow!) on her dresser. She got the feather when the show when it was performing in Tallahassee at the civic center. She was back stage helping the characters with their costumes. A memory she cherishes!
