Today, my mom ended one chapter of her life and is beginning a new one.

She officially retired today. I am so proud of her for making this decision. I have learned my work ethic from mom, which she learned from her dad. I admire my mom's career. She grew into new positions and always worked to improve processes and procedures. She took every opportunity to learn new skills. She was always the first to volunteer. Most of all, I admire how she valued relationships. For those who have worked with my mom, I know they have a lot of positive memories. While she is serious about her work, she knows how to have fun too.
I am very excited for her that she can now put her own to do list first. She will be able to relax and enjoy life. While I know that my health may limit what we can do, I am looking forward to new adventures with her that are not limited to trips to Mayo.
Congratulations, Mom!
For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO

Not sure what the future holds but I am not going to miss the 5am alarm going off Monday through Friday. I have worked at the same company for over 33 years which is unusual these days. I have seen many, many changes not only in the way we did our work (going from main frame computers to PC's and even getting email) but also the people I have worked with. Joe and Carrie (in the picture) have been my direct co-workers for the last 19 years but Carrie and I have worked together the entire time I have been at Health First. I love them both and they are like family to me.I will miss the people I work with but it is time to have a little downtime to spend with my family and friends without the calendar and task lists at work getting in the way or ruling when I can do things. Looking forward to being my own boss and doing what I want, when I want. I have had some kind of job since I was 12 (babysitting) and my social security statement starts in 1973 without a missed year! I told someone that I think next week will be like being on vacation for a week...I will start realizing I am retired in about 2-3 weeks, I believe. My family did not think this day would ever come but it has............
