With the adrenal gland insufficiency, I have been monitoring my blood pressure more closely. The other night the battery indicator came on and it stopped reading my blood pressure. I plugged it in. The next morning, the battery had not charged. So I plugged it into another outlet thinking it was an outlet issue. Same result...batteries dead. I then plugged it into my laptop to charge. Same result...batteries dead. I was frustrated because I just bought this BP cuff. It is outside the return window. I started to look at purchasing a new one but then saw this one had really high ratings by people. I thought maybe I got a bad one. I got distracted doing something else. Later that day, I went to take my BP. I plugged it in and took the reading. I immediately started laughing out loud because I realized that when I was plugging it in, it wasn't charging because that is not the purpose of the plug. The batteries do not recharge. The BP cuff can be used on battery or plugged it. I am so used to everything being rechargeable that it never dawned on me this wasn't.
On the home front...
- Flood Repair Update: I still have not heard from the restoration company on their plan to move everything back into the house. This morning at 9 AM I heard from the plumber who said he was scheduled to come out this morning but wasn't feeling well so he would call me Monday afternoon to come and move the water heater back. I had no idea he was scheduled to come out. What company plans work at someone's house and never tells them when?!? Well, I just heard from the plumber (3:10 PM) that he has to move the hot water heater before Monday morning. This means (1) the plumber is coming over not feeling well, (2) I have to be awake at 8 AM on a Sunday, so much for a three day weekend, and (3) maybe they are coming Monday morning to work on the garage, which does not work well for me because I have a ton of meetings so I will give them a map and hope for the best. This house is the gift that just keeps on giving.
- Health: I am doing well overall. Super fatigued this week. I napped almost every day, which then had my schedule all out of whack. Several evenings I could barely keep my eyes open but then could not sleep, it is a weird state that I get into often. I just give in, turn off the lights, and watch what I call sleeping shows until I fall asleep. Sleeping shows are those that I enjoy and have seen so many times that I know what is going to happen so I am not tempted to stay awake to see what happens. For me, these shows are Friends, Modern Family, Criminal Minds, and Law & Order: SVU.
- First Real Day Off: This week I took a day off. I got three things on my to do list done. I ended up sleeping most of the day away. I am trying to be better about listening to my body and giving it what it needs. I was proud of myself because I did not get on email or do anything for work, which is really hard for me. I thought about it a few times because I had things that I did not get done Thursday night but then I told myself that it could wait until Monday. This is a huge step for me. I look forward to more of these days. I am working on my work-life integration. Better late than never. The cats enjoyed our day off:
For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO

Good to read your latest Blog update. Understand the issue with your PB equipment. In the modern world we look for complicated solutions to simple problems. (Like battery replacement) ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are managing to work some "time off: into your work schedule. We hope the scheduling goes well to get the plumber out to do his work and that the restoration folks can get their storage box out of the drive way and move things back inside.
Hugs to you and Mom.
Love you!
