Back to Jacksonville...Again

On Friday, Mom and I headed back to Jacksonville to meet with a cardiothoracic surgeon.

On my way there, we got a call that says if you get here early, we can see you early. I have never heard of that with a doctor. When we got there, we were the only ones in the waiting room. Lesson learned...have your appointments on Fridays!!!!! I thought we were going to get in and out. I was excited to think we would be back home early afternoon. Oh, I was so wrong...

The purpose of this meeting was for pre-op for a biopsy of whatever might be growing on the right side of my heart. The MRI showed suspicious activity. From the CT and MRI, they cannot tell what is on my heart and lung. They will not schedule my abdominal surgery until we know. They suspect it is the same type of cancer but it could be something else. I am still hoping I might be growing pearls!

I got blood and then headed to see the doctor. Only one vial today, which seemed odd but who am I to argue (I know, I know). Then we went up to the doctor. He did a great job explaining what he saw, why they are unsure from the images, and what the biopsy entails. To get to the part of my heart they need to biopsy, they will need to deflate my lung and I will need a chest tube so that means an overnight in the hospital. Once we get the biopsy results, we will be able to regroup with my other surgeon on the next steps. While I thought we were going to go home after this meeting, I was sent for more blood work, see I should have argued and told them to take more vials. Then an EKG. Finally, I was scheduled to meet with anesthesiology to clear me for surgery. I was cleared so I will be returning to Mayo for Covid test #5 and then the next morning at 6:30 AM having my biopsy.

I scaled back bracelets for today for the consult because I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I really liked how the bracelets were laying on my wrist.
Needless to say, it was 8:30 PM when we walked through the door at home. What a long day!!!!!

For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO
