I Did It

I just finished giving Hazelwood his IV all by myself.   Wow!  It is a good thing that Hazelwood likes to snuggle and cuddle . . .
Just chillin' before the IV
We cuddled for a while prior to me sticking him.  But let me tell you how good he was.  When it came time to inject him, he just sat there and let me feel around for a good spot.  Then he didn't even flinch when I stuck him (I held my breath).
Getting his IV
He just let me pet him while the I pushed the fluids.  It only takes about 10 minutes to do.  Once I was done, Hazelwood returned to the library to rest.

This breaks my heart.  I know that everyone thinks their pet is the best but let me tell you . . . you are wrong.  Hazelwood is the most easy going, lovable and precious cat in the whole world.  He lets me flip him over, wrap in blankets, walk him on a leash, etc.  My vet once told me that orange tabby cats are the best because they let you do anything  . . .  she was so right.  I am blessed he picked me to be his mama.  For those who do not know the story, it was my first year at the University of Florida and he started hanging out outside my apartment.  He was covered in spots of oil from living under the cars.  This is how he got his name Captain Hazelwood after the captain of the Exxon Valdez had the tragedy in 1989.  My neighbor started feeding him but then he moved.  He told me to just stop feeding him but I couldn't - he was so cute and cuddly.   He was about one year old . . . that was fifteen years ago.  Over the past few years, I have had to say goodbye to too many individuals that I love.  I am not prepared for this but I suppose that doesn't really matter!

For tonight . . . I'm just sayin' XOXO
